These shootings have been happening far too often lately, and far too often we remember the names and faces of the culprits. In Yesterday’s shootings a hero stood out among the tragedy and his name was Chris Mintz. The 30 year old Army Vet was attending classes when he realized what was happening, and in an instant charged at the shooter in an attempt to help stop him. He was shot 5 times in the process. When paramedics got to Chris the only thing he proceed to say was “it’s my son’s birthday, it’s my son’s birthday”. Chris was taken to the hospital and will be alright, but they say he may have to re-learn how to walk. This selfless act of heroism is what we need to remember on this day of tragedy. It’s great to realize that although there are some awful people out there, we also are surrounded by a lot of people who will do everything they can to try and protect people they don’t even personally know. Remember the HERO, not the zero.
